Dunno about best, but I went with the Intel Badaxe, Desktop Board D975XBX2 with the 975X chipset, and the E6600 processor with 4 meg cache. It has 8 SATA ports, 4 regular and 4 for RAID.
Been solid as a rock since I got it, up 24/7 as it should be. :) I liked the idea of no fan on the chipset to go bad, especially after having to fix the one on my old Abit board 3 times.
