Okay, just to close the loop, I downloaded and installed Super, on the
first try I got a file that the Creative Zen was happy to load & play.
It seemed that it had problems with the sound encoder.

Under the heading of 'Stupid Management Tricks', we have Creative Tech
Support, who, with a straight face, claimed that they could not help
me with their 2 month old patch that killed the converter because my
Zen was out of warranty (bought back in 2005).  Oh, but I could get
help if I paid for it.  Yeah, right.....
