STOP THE INSANITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What?

Fact: At full load, current quad-core CPUs can pull upwards of 150 watts.
(C2Q QX6800 rated at 130W TDP, and TDP isn't max)

Fact: At full load, current high-end GPUs pull upwards of 220 watts or more.

Fact: 680i/X38 are looking at power consumption of 30+ watts

You're already at >400 watts. Add conversion inefficiencies, 4 sticks of
high-end memory, 4 or 5 hard drives, several fans, and other
motherboard/system components, and you're easily at 500W+ under a full load
condition. How much margin are you comfortable with?

Greg

You think this is good? Power consumption needs to be going down, not up. Most people don't need to be burning all this watts on games anyway. How many people really need a 150W quad-core CPU and 2 220 W GPUs?

:)
