Really, where is that?

Something I read in Maximum PC, I believe.

I don't think so. What you read is that Maximum PCs are, and always have been, a big proponent of multiple displays, but it is still an esoteric use.

I like just one big canvas. So, I have basically 1600 x 1200 pixels on the left, and 1600 x 1200 on the right and the both serve as my desktop. So, which is that - single viewing area or two distinctly different views?

if they adjust independently then you have two distinct displays, but if they adjust as a single display 1600 X1200 across two monitors then it is one display view. It is up to your drivers weather you even have this choice. Matrox will allow you to do either.

It's been a long long time since I used a Matrox card. What makes them so good at dual displays? Also, it's curious that no one else has tried to mimic them after all of these years.

their drivers. they made their rep on multiple displays. The drivers are fantastic for multiple displays. Everybody else is has just bare bone multi display drivers compared to Matrox.

I didn't even know they were still around!

Only high end commercial ....

I just loaded the new beta nVidia drivers. So far so good. I'm running both sammys at 1600x1200 with both being stable...no flickering or blinking of any kind on the "suspect" monitor. Now if I could just get them to look halfway similar I'd be in soup city.

I know Samsung has a huge fan base, but I don't like the brand. Everything I have bought Samsung ends up dying.
