You must be using your system in a already noisy environment. If not, try to get quiet components for your PS and fans...

You're not going to use raid, right? On my mobo, the sata points are numbered 0 through 5 on the ICH9R and then the two others are on the Gigabyle SATA2 controller. I plan to use those for external SATA. I put my HDs on the ICH9R on 0 and 1, and my opticals on 2 and 3, with 4 and 5 still free. My OS is installed on 1. I guess I wasn't paying attention. Doesn't seem to have made a difference, though.

Putting my first all sata system, mb has 6 sata slots. do the roms go on 1,2
and boot on 3 or ??? Somehow I was thinking 1-4 were raid and 5-6 were for roms
but I may be thinking wrong. raid disabled.

currently have 4 drive trays on 1-4 and roms on5&6 but haven't powered it up
yet. might be a dumb question, just sitting here after yard work and was pondering
8-)
only 2 drives now, other trays for expansion.
Case is a Supermicro 733T-645. Power supply fan never shuts off when plugged
in. seems weird. stock fans designed for Supermicro mb's and run at turbine
speeds plugged into a regular mb. replacing these, disappointed in that.
Otherwise one of the nicest cases I ever worked on. dutch door hinge a little
flimsy but may be designed like that to prevent case damage.
