I remember re-installing 2K on an old P2 (Asus P2B)
box that booted off the
Promise ATA controller card and having a BSOD issue
during (text mode) install.
Stacks or heap issue maybe?

If you want to switch to SATA boot drive, then your
PATA/promise configured
windows image will no longer work. I'd suggest
removing all promise cards from
the PC & reinstalling just to the SATA drive. THEN try
to load the drivers for
the promise cards AFTER windows is installed, updated
& stable. Best bet would
be to ditch the promise controller entirely IMHO.

Don't remember what the solution was to get the
promise card to work during
win2k re-install.
