OK, have an idea about "bridge mode." Not completely clear yet.
LAN is converted. Now using the 192 series. What a PITA, but done!
Worse, the install kit arrived an hour ago. Freaked, I am!
No, Bellsouth did not send anything about net addy's or IP addy's I
might choose to use. <shrug>. Actually, I did not expect this anyway.
DO have a 1-888 phone number if ....... LOL!
Yes, I am laughing still. Bunk!
I do have a CD to run. Hmm. The only way I will run this CD is if/when I
take a client off-LAN to use for "setup." Is this recommended for initial
install?
Best,
Duncan

You're putting more of your connection's supporting hardware & software under
your control. With separate router you can choose what firmware to use and can be sure you're not locked out of settings because the ISP chose to remove them.

If you run firewall logs, I feel WAP's like the WRT54GS running DDWRT would
provide more info than the Westell's firewall. YMMV.

Last thing you want is your connection & firewall rules to stop working or
disappear because the ISP pushed an update, etc...

Either way works, I just like to put as little faith & control into ISP
equipment as possible.
