No, I've gotten by for 7+ years on a single DC. Of course my domain does not change much and I only have 5 PC's on it.
I do every year or so boot up a second machine with 2K server, promote it to DC from member server & get my domain synced to it. Then I image that second server "just in case". Also use this method when I need to redo the 1st server from scratch. Really need to put this setup up so I can sync, then upgrade the 1st server to 2K3 license I got for taking an MCSE course. Always something else to do, and never the time to do it. BTW- anyone offering pay to retain a "remote answer guy"? If I could make money from home doing support I'd love to be doing so. Current arrangement & locale has me stuck as "Mr. Mom" with no real luck landing interviews in Spokane nor the time to really do a 9-5 job. Forget PC servicing for the hicks here in the boonies!
