OK, still have calls to the router from the printer after an hour of
quite time (printer is powered off).
Here are the 'questionable' settings I find inside the printer's print
server. Any suggestions helpful at this point, or, I suffer Brother's
multi-lingual tech support.......... :)
To wit:
Believe am using the latest version of Brother's BR Admin app.
(v2.81_2007-03-15). Open and select Print Server (top tabs).
/Configure 2070N/Control/
TCP/IP Active CHECKED
Netware Inactive unchecked
AppleTalk Inactive unchecked
NetBEUI Inactive unchecked
DLC Inactive unchecked
LAT Inactive unchecked
Banyan Vines Inactive unchecked
SNMP Inactive CHECKED
LLTD Inactive unchecked
Now on the sub-tab /Protocols/ of the tab above, I have
(left column, then right column):
HTTP (Web Server, IPP) /grayed out/ CHECKED
HTTP (Web Services) /grayed out/ CHECKED
IPP Port 631 ACTIVE CHECKED
HTTPS (Web Server, IPPS) /grayed out/ unchecked
POP/SMTP ACTIVE CHECKED
FTP ACTIVE CHECKED
TFTP /grayed out/ CHECKED
mDNS ACTIVE CHECKED **
SSDP /grayed out/ unchecked
NetBIOS ACTIVE CHECKED
Telnet /grayed out/ CHECKED
LDP /grayed out/ CHECKED
Raw Port /grayed out/ CHECKED
Network scan /grayed out/ unchecked
PC fax service /grayed out/ unchecked
Remote Setup /grayed out/ unchecked
LDAP /grayed out/ unchecked
**I question the "mDNS" business, but have not shut it
off yet!!!
I suppose I share this only because many of the above
protocols are foreign to me ATM. Any suggestions are
very welcome. This is not a killer ATM. I would just like to
clear my router's log file of the printer's calls if possible.
If they really have to be there, I will live with that.
Thank you for any help you have.
Best,
Duncan

Previous sent. This is in addition.
No explicit Gateway object/tab that I can see.
Erased the Gateway addy to 0.0.0.0.
Also decided to remove the Default DNS entries for new ISP also
from the printer's Print Server. (this print server is way more complex
than print servers of my past!)
I am still collecting some confusing data within the print server.
There are many questionable entries to me in /Protocols/.
And, I know, more reading! LOL!
Will send soon.
Thank you.

If your PC's and the printer are on the same subnet, remove the default
gateway from the printer and it will stop trying to access anything
outside of your local subnet.
