You'd get more out of a customized windows installer
if "Windows is gonna need
one every 6-12 months" than simple backups.
Customization like nLite, setup.txt,
or even just some custom .INF's beat a image backup
IMHO since they can recreate
their magic selectively. Then you have WPI which is a
good way to script
re-installs of apps but time consuming to setup.
Yes, you most certainly can mount .TIB's & recover the
file. No more complicated
than mounting a ISO. If kept near-line on a hot
external HDD, daily incremental
backups would protect from accidental deletions and
could be combined with DVD
based differentials if that's what you want. Also if
you made the TIB's in 4.5GB
parts rather than 1 big .TIB you COULD back them up by
from the external HDD by
burning them to DVD with an DVD burning package.
