Thankyou for the link to angryziber. Got it, installed it and have been scanning for about 3 hours so far. My scan range is 191.167.0.0 - 193.169.3.255. It should be busy for quite some time! I must have really mangled the ip addy! LOL!

Tried the packet sniffer and never saw a peep out of the router. But, oddly, the pc I'm using keeps calling for two ip addy's that are valid/real on my home LAN, but are not possibly present when only connected to the suspect router. I suspect that these calls are from some sort of recent memory.

This is getting fun! If I get into a corner, I'll get back to you offline for details on shipping the brick to you for a look/see.............. :)
