I have a new WD Caviar WD10EACS 1TB hard disk that won't play nice with one of my machines. On boot the BIOS recognizes the drive but it just sits there right after it detected the drive and doesn't continue booting. The system is an older nForce 4 motherboard using the Gigabyte 7N-400 Pro:
http://www.giga-byte.com/Support/Motherboard/Driver_Model.aspx?ProductID=1652 It has the latest BIOS and I'm pretty sure it isn't a drive problem as it doesn't even get to the OS point. The drive boots and works beautifully in my other system, a new Quadcore with an IX38 mobo. Has anyone heard of older boards not supporting 1 TB drives? Could this be something like the old LBA32 problem? ----- Brian Weeden Technical Consultant Secure World Foundation
