OS = WinXP Home, SP3. When I Rt-Click on Drive C: or D: Windows Installer starts up automagically. When I try to install an application that needs Windows Installer, I get a failure that "Windows Installer can't start.
I've been to M$ KB and tried the recommended fixes and nothing they offer fixes the problem. I downloaded the most current version of Windows Installer (v2) and tried to install it, but it refuses because the Windows Installer included in SP3 is a more recent version than v2!!?? I can't use the MSI Clean-Up Utility (msicuu2.exe) - it won't install because MSI is already fubarred. Any ideas short of reinstalling winXP would be appreciated. Thanx, Jim
