Tivo allows you to transfer a HD recording to your computer? Even scrambled cable channel
No, you have to get one of those cable cards from your cable provider, in place of a cable box. You still have to rent it and have an account. You put that in and then use TIVO as your cable box. The difference is that TIVO HD has a CAT5 plug. I haven't actually done this, but this is how it was explained to me by the TIVO rep. And that was last year.... so this stuff isn't new. The Hauppauge one uses your computer to process and store the recordings. It works between the cable box and the PC.
