When CC gets around to enabling SA's SARA OS' DRM features it will disallow/degrade recorded playback or even tuner output via component or whatever else they choose. As long as they're in control of the STB you'll never get what you pay for!

Time will tell whether the cable companies block this. Right now, according to everything I read it is doing a good job of capturing HD in 1080i from cable and satellite boxes.

I think it will have more to do with what other products enter this niche market... if they don't I doubt they will bother with this esoteric method since it is not HDMI. However, it can still be used on DVD or Blueray players to record HD
