Heylo,
To me that sounds sort of like a PSU issue, flaky voltage regulation
as the thing comes up from cold?
swap in a spare PSU and see if it sorts it?

Hi all.
I have a friend's HP pc (P4-3Ghz, 1.5GB RAM) running XP pro.
Starting last
Friday, it would not shut down for her (it would hang). Then it
decided it
would hang on startup. So I went over to look at it. I could boot
in safe
mode (and shut down also) with no problems. I brought the pc home and
restored it to a prior backup from about a week ago. Now, it seems
that I
can get it to work properly (most of the time) if I do a restart,
but it
hangs on startup if I start from being powered off.
I have disabled all startup items from msconfig, dabbled with
services, but
to no avail. I've tried using "last known good configuration." and
it works
sometimes.
Anyone have any ideas as to what may be going on or have any ideas
for me?
Thanks,
Bobby
