All depends on what you are doing. FF3's memory management in my experience is much better than FF2. I've got probably 25 extensions running with multiple tabs and use it for my job easily 10-12 hours a day and my memory footprint seems to top out around 300 MB no matter how long I let it go or how many pages I blow through. Not tiny, but on a machine with 4 GB of RAM it's perfectly fine.
