Time out! My bad for being so quick with a OPINION expressed in bad prose,
sorry!

You're not being lambasted nor am I insisting you need to do ATI was implying in a 2 horse race you were really limiting your options based what sounds like arbitrary reasons about old issues that may/may not have bearing on today. If I was to go on past experiences I'd never buy a Intel, AMD, a Sleazgate HDD or HP anything! ;)

The response was supposed to be laced with *sarcasm* in response to your being so (seemingly) staunchly tied to a brand rather than good choices despite brand. I am not saying ATI is best of 2 nor was I trashing NV video cards. Trashing drivers & BS corporate policies yes, hardware no. Note I was looking at NV last year, so I am not saying they're shit by any means, though in fairness both companies have a lot of work to do IMHO.

As you say, building with X58 so SLI issue is moot yet there's still a bit chill in the air from NV's dissing pre-X58 users. Were I do X58 I'd be sizing up BOTH the NV 2x0 series at this point vs. ATI HD48x0 X2 series.

Good luck on the build!

I was not being flip. I just had no desire to go with ATI (after many
issues with ATI many years ago). So ATI was not a valid choice as I had
already chosen Nvidia. Instead of having people waste their time going
through the trouble of writing a reply that was in favor of ATI, when I
wasn't interested in ATI, I was trying to steer the thread where I wanted to
go. And that was with Nvidia. I have weighed all of the options many times
and still decide to choose Nvidia.

What bothers me though is that my email was just a request for opinions
about what I asked for. I did not expect to be lambasted for not choosing
ATI. I did not trash ATI or say that Nvidia was the ultimate brand over all
brands. If I had asked for opinions about the different Ford Mustang models
I would not expect to hear about Chevrolet or Toyota.

BTW, I am building an X58 system. So the SLI issue is moot here.
