I honestly think mini-DDWRT is more than most people will ever use. I even used Micro and that is more than enough for most home users. Either is more feature packed than the standard firmware that comes on these routers anyway. If the OP is looking for a stable replacement for his old WRT54G v4, then the WRT54GL will do a great job. Add DDWRT and it is the perfect G wireless router in my book.
