Winterlight,
Your assumption is close. Having read it several times, I think I now know
the round-about I may be in at the moment.
1. [Old ATI Rage driver files....]
2. [the Intel STL2 jumper to disable the on-board video chip!]
Server now recognizes the G200. The G200 drivers are installed. The G200
is happy in the Server, I think. And, the video quality is excellent, BTW
(as expected).
Server (W2KServer sp4) still now shows the old on-board ATI RAGE IIC video
controller in the DM. ATM, W2K has granted it a bright Red X. Believe I
have defeated it in W2K. IT is also disabled in BIOS also; but I have
little faith in the old bios I have to play with on this m/b.
I am now digging thru my old Intel STL2 pdf files to find the JUMPER to put
this on-board video controller to sleep for the foreseeable future......... :)
Later, I can search/destroy all the ATI-related driver files for this old
on-board video device that still reside on my raid array.
For now, Matrox rulez again on my Server. Damn! The video is just so nice
and readable even w/60+yr old eyes................... :)
This video card truly has some very serious balz!!!!!!!!!
Thank you very much (many times over!)
Duncan

I assume you are un installing the existing video card drivers from the
OS. Do that first... then shutdown and disable the onboard, or reboot and
go into the BIOS, tell the BIOS to use the PCI card for video and boot up
install matrox drivers.

I have a old server that currently uses its' on-board ATI Rage IIC xygawkxx??
I want to turn it off in bios and install an old Matrox G200 PCI that I
have. The server will be its' last home.
I am concerned about getting into a no-video loop. It is an old Intel
STL2 server board.....
The server is presently OFF. I am doing my yearly PM on it.
Need to know when to install the replacement video card. Now, or 1 more
shut-down after I shut off the on-board video circuits?
Yes, have full driver set for the old G200.............Thanks m!
Best,
Duncan
