Some projects still going, some have been canceled.
Using a spare monitor as a TV: This one is dead. I took a look at my
cheapie home theater tuner and yes, it does have component outputs,
however, they only work with the DVD player. No TV. No VCR. Okay,
this waits until I get a decent home theater tuner.
Network Storage: Now have to find the space to work on this. Got the
parts, hope it's sufficient.
Gigbit switch: Installed the switch a hooked everything up to it.
Everything is still running at 100Mb. I don't know what the cables
are. Tomorrow will be getting cat5e cables and see if that works. It's
a Linksys SD2005 and supposedly each port auto adjusts to speed. Trying
to make that happen.
Splitting the Video: One thing I haven't asked about on the list.
Wanted to split the cable line that goes to the modem so that I can
watch TV on one of the boxes (hauppauge Analog/Digital Card). The
splitter I tried to use resulted in no internet and an unhappy modem. I
think I need a 1Ghz splitter. I doubt that one was.
Finally put the older box (Athlon 64 x2 3800+) upstairs for my son. My
wife claims it's full of spyware. Oh, well....
Eventful weekend. Back to work for a rest. ;-)
