Check the WoW forums, there are a number of people with ADM 48xx cards that experience bad performance.
I have a 4870x2 and an i...@4ghz and the performance isn't as good as it probably should be, although I play at 2560x1600 with everything maxed so I do not expect a silky-smooth 60fps at all times, although for the most part I do get 60 FPS....and there are plenty of other games that do play silky-smooth at max settings on this PC, including my current favourite, Left4Dead. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Joe User Sent: 23 April 2009 20:24 To: The Hardware List Subject: [H] CPU vs CPU Hello guys, I have on my current gaming rig an E6850 with 4 GB RAM. I also have a ATI 4870. I mainly play World of Warcraft and it's in a high end guild environment. So performance is key. I bought this 4870 hoping to get mass performance gains but that just didn't happen. I have since found out the game is CPU bound. So... I want max speed. I have settings set as low as possible except for what is needed to be higher. I assume the card is pretty high end but the rest of my rig is lacking. Would I see major (or better yet - worthwhile performance for price) benefit from upgrading the CPU to an i7 range? -- Regards, joeuser - Still looking for the 'any' key...
