[H] Promise won't install

[Winterlight]

I have a PCI Promise SATA150 TX2plus controller that I am trying to 
install into a new XPPRO SP3 install. The BIOS sees the controller 
and it's drive. XP sees that there is a controller there but will not 
install it, just keeps saying it is the wrong drivers. But it is the 
right drivers, and I know the controller works OK. I have tried 
moving to another PCI slot and using both the original and updated 
drivers fresh off Promise website but nothing is recognized by XP PRO.

Anybody see this sort of behavior before and know a work around.
