OK. I still seem to have connectivity issues w/BellSouth/ATT
testing/working..... :(
Was able to install TB on this machine and send/rcv email. I am still
digging/tweaking all TB settings. It seems that the ISP and
Mozilla/Eudora have vastly different opinions of the "Require secure
authentication" checkbox.(!) If I uncheck this box in TB, email flows as
expected. If I tick this box in TB (as my ISP says I MUST!), TB errors
immediately on "Check Mail." I am still trying to get my head around
this........ :)
But, ATM, I am seeking insight into the basic install of TB. I was able
to get TB to install (most) of its' stuff on my d: partition. However,
somewhere else in the install script I missed a subtle ask about "where"
I want TB to "put" all the data (email). ATM, and after I let TB
scan/copy the current Eudora, I seem to have all the TB data living at:
C:\Documents and Settings\UID\Application
Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\yy98ry8o.default\Mail
>>C:\Documents and Settings\UID\Application
Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\yy98ry8o.default\Mail\Local Folders
>>C:\Documents and Settings\UID\Application
Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\yy98ry8o.default\Mail\pop.att.yahoo.com
Can I coerce TB to put this "email data" back on d:\ with the rest of
the proggy (like Eudora)?
If not, I will get use to it I suppose....... :)
But, this now makes my normal use of SyncToy 2.0 a problem. I just do
not know who/what I tell SC20 to copy/echo from TB to my NAS for
daily/weekly backup...??? Much less whether to even use SC20 to
copy/echo the TB program files on the d:\ partition............ :(
Sorry if this question seems weird. Since this recent ISP kurfuffle,
most things normal have become a challenge.
Best,
Duncan
