Cloud computing is bogus. The day when everyone's apps and data are on machines that aren't local is the day the Internet becomes third world. My broadband connection failed again yesterday for a couple hours during the Michael Jackson memorial blitz. How can so many in the industry be pushing this nonsense is beyond me. However, competing against Microsoft is a good idea as it may bring down their ridiculous prices. Anybody pee od'd that Vista owners don't get a free upgrade to 7?

I'm not a big fan of cloud computing either (but interestingly enough, am working on a cloud-based project, so go figure.) I don't see net connections going down very often, but when they do, it could be a big hit to a business. Seems like a single point of failure issue to me, but it is taking off.
