Winterlight,
It appears that both you and I ARE watchers of Pioneer Elite.
I own an RPG 55in Pioneer Elite. I plan to replace it soon because its'
~$450 convergence PWB is no longer happy. I have already put $200 in big
ASICS and capacitors into this PWB. And, the damn thing still has ~300
hours left on the r/b/g tubes! It has been a superb TV for its' entire
life. I am still favorably impressed with the Pioneer Elite
offer/engineering; regardless of their premium price........ :)
That PE does NOT do their own glass (for their plasma offers?) is of
little concern. Ho-Hum? There are plenty of "glass" suppliers now!
$4400 is a tasty figure for me. I paid $3500 for my PE back in 1995. So,
like you, I will be watching what happens between now and Christmas '09.
Yes, I am shopping also.................... :)
Best,
Duncan

I too have been watching and dithering and I agree with what you wrote.
It is down from 6500. You can get the Pro 151 Elite Kuro 60 inch now for
around 4400 delivered to the curb
but it is still a hell of a lot of money for a TV, especially since I
almost never watch a movie and follow only one series. But if gets down
below 3500 I will probably make the buy.
