Okay, I'm managed to get my local folders moved over but I'm stuck on
the old inboxes (note there were 3 email accounts). Apparently I can't
rename them and move them, nor can I just move them to a subfolder. The
folder shows up, however the mail does not. Not actually a big loss, I
don't remember what I had there....;-). Interesting to note that once
you point to a different location for local folders, if you create a new
folder, at least in this case, it doesn't go there.....interesting....

RAR/Zip/7z whatever as long as it doesn't move the NTFS security it
should not matter.
The one thing I found just now double checking mine is that
"extensions.ini" & "prefs.js" DO have embedded URL paths. I've not hit
that since my paths never change. Should be simple enough to search &
replace both sets of settings with a text editor.
Note:
ini uses standard paths "D:\folder\subfolder\"
js uses escaped paths "D:\\folder\\subfolder\\"
I'll stress the TrueCrypt volume point again since it not only secures
the contents but also means the path never changes!

Thanks, I take a look at that. I'll have to figure out how to move
the location of the files since they're still under the old XP
documents & settings.

1. Backup your profile folder!
Key is to manually create a TB (FF also works this way) profile
using "Thunderbird.exe -profilemanger" which lets you point to the
folder you want to use rather than it creating a random named folder.
Since I keep My Documents, Firefox & TBird profiles, etc... on a
TrueCrypt volume mounted as P:, it matters not what OS or logon I
use those key folders are windows profile agnostic! Pointing FF & TB
to this setup has worked flawlessly through windows dual boots,
reinstalls & upgrades.

Okay, now I am coming live from Windows 7....No complaints so
far...except with M-Audio. It seems that they wrote their 64bit
driver to only detect Vista64, so it refused to install. To my
chagrin, the Realtek High Definition Driver actually sounds better
on the same speakers....
Anyways, Tbird is now installed under 7, so does anyone know how to
get my mail copied over? It's still on the other drive, but Tbird
did not give me any option to copy from Tbird....
Thanks...Steve
