However, all these drivers are supposed to go through Windows Hardware
Quality Labs. And they didn't catch the misidentification. That's
hardly 'quality'. M$ does have to take some blame for that.

problem of mis-identification of hardware as opposed to a bad driver and I
think the blame is more on the manufacturer than Microsoft.

Win7 showed an optional update for the Realtek network adapter. Installed
it and it broke the network connection. Had to roll back to the previous
driver. Don't know what M$ was thinking with that one. Supposedly these
things go through the 'Hardware Quality Labs'. Sorry this one didn't, it
wiped out all network access on this box.
