I think, after CW's last share, it is time to push my very old server closer
to 'modern.' It now runs Windows 2000 Server. And, damn, it runs well still.
No reason not to make the jump direct to 2008, you'll have some learning
to do either way, and this way you can keep it 5 years longer before next
upgrade.
