tried, not able to. Actually got it to ping but was unable to re flash.

Afraid to turn the Asus into a brick, is supported by DD-wrt but is a very good 
router ( more or less ) so decided to leave it alone for now.

new one was only $48 ( Netgear 
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833122218 ), not worth 
messing with or taking the chance. A lot on the old plate right now.
