Scoobydoo,
While I do accept saving money, I do not agree with your psu assessment.
GPL's 650W psu choice is totally appropriate for what will happen to
this build in its' first 12 months.
Having a 200w cushion going in is not a bad decision. A loafing psu is
better than one that may be driven to its' max specs. JMHO.
I run 650's on my 3 C2D's. Even on my older AMD procs I use 510's.
The old 450w psu is a non-starter here any longer. Modern m/b's draw all
sorts of power than did those of years long ago.
I like the 650w choice. A psu is NOT an area to skrimp on. I might even
suggest 750-800w now.
And, I would suggest Seasonic completely. Sugested here. I tried. I like
Seasonic very much now. My old fav was PCP&C. JMHO, again.
Antec does NOT hit my radar screen any more.
Best,
Duncan

My only suggestion would be to get a lesser PSU in the 450 watt range to
save some cash. Seasonic is the best IMHO..

Looking to build a milder gaming maching. This is not a primary

like to keep it as low as possible to make use of the video card I
acquired which is an Nvidia GTX-280 1G.
I've been looking through newegg and put together a few parts I wish
you folks could evaluate and comment on, perhaps direct me to a better
combination. The below seems to tip over the $400 range, and in a
perfect world I really wanted to keep this down to the low $300 range.
Had a few combo deals a few weeks ago I think I missed out on unless
I'm lousy at finding good combo deals on newegg. I'm not married to
Intel or AMD just looking for something decent and as low a price I
can get away with, with out it being a disaster in the making :-)
