GPL,
Know little of how GSkill IDs their product. Per their forum, even the Tech Support Monitor is not certain. Some forum users suggest that the "RL" designation may be the product code for the "ripjaws" series. Did not see mention of the NQ, PI, or, HZ designations. One might hope that GSkill would maintain a list of their Product Codes.

The stuff you have carted is CAS Latency=9. The HZ and PI recc. look to be CAS Latency=7. HTH.
Best,
Duncan

I have a question on memory. Like I said I’m building a system around
an Asrock M3A770DE. On their allowed memory list:
http://www.asrock.com/mb/memory/M3A770DE.pdf

It says the memory I want, that is allowed is:

2G G.SKILL F3-12800CL7D-4GBBHZ
2GB G.SKILL F3-12800CL7D-4GBPI
2GB G.SKILL F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ

Now, here is my question, the memory I have in my newegg shopping
cart, in a combo deal with another item I need is:

2GB G.SKILL F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL (combo w/ Antec EarthWatts EA650)

I see the "12800CL9D" is a match but the two memories have the ending
code different, the top one is 4GBNQ and the one I have in shopping
cart is 4GBRL.

I don't understand the difference, and should I consider not
purchasing the G.SKILL F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL because its not on the
memory list and go with the G.SKILL F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ instead?\

Little confused....

Scoobydoo,
While I do accept saving money, I do not agree with your psu assessment.
GPL's 650W psu choice is totally appropriate for what will happen to this
build in its' first 12 months.

Having a 200w cushion going in is not a bad decision. A loafing psu is
better than one that may be driven to its' max specs. JMHO.

I run 650's on my 3 C2D's. Even on my older AMD procs I use 510's.
The old 450w psu is a non-starter here any longer. Modern m/b's draw all
sorts of power than did those of years long ago.

I like the 650w choice. A psu is NOT an area to skrimp on. I might even
suggest 750-800w now.

And, I would suggest Seasonic completely. Sugested here. I tried. I like
Seasonic very much now. My old fav was PCP&C. JMHO, again.

Antec does NOT hit my radar screen any more.
Best,
Duncan

My only suggestion would be to get a lesser PSU in the 450 watt range to
save some cash. Seasonic is the best IMHO..

I've been looking through newegg and put together a few parts I wish
you folks could evaluate and comment on, perhaps direct me to a better
combination. The below seems to tip over the $400 range, and in a
perfect world I really wanted to keep this down to the low $300 range.
Had a few combo deals a few weeks ago I think I missed out on unless
I'm lousy at finding good combo deals on newegg. I'm not married to
Intel or AMD just looking for something decent and as low a price I
can get away with, with out it being a disaster in the making :-)
