I have rebuild an old machine. It now runs fine w/o BSODS. WinXP pro SP3.
Yes, it does have a [d:\SHARE] folder/directory.
Machine's XPpro seems to run just fine, otherwise.
This client (lib) will NOT let any other LAN client copy/move anything into
ITS' [SHARE] directory. Yet the directory is clearly SEEN from other LAN
clients (?).
I get access denied and read/write access business.
I localize this to some goof on this new client rebuild.
Am I incorrect?
I am willing to shut down the whole LAN ATM, and start again. Willing to
share internal info if necessary.
This client gets freely to the internet.
(~80 Winupdates prove this to me.)
The client clearly sees all other LAN clients.
The client gets to each 'other LAN' client's [SHARE] and freely moves files
{PULL only}.
All clients use the same ADMIN Uname and PW.
All clients have the same working desktops (ME and ADMIN).
What have I NOT done properly?
I am ready to erase and start over! It's only ~80 WinUpdates!
Unless... :)
Disable Simple File sharing most likely.
To disable simple file sharing yourself, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, and then click My Computer.
2. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
3. Click the View tab.
4. In the Advanced Settings section, click to clear the Use simple file
sharing (Recommended) check box.
5. Click OK.
