I use a local email client exclusively at home too, but do use web-based email when at work or traveling, etc.
As long as Ad-Block is on, it's bearable, and I have to admit, it's handy at times.... :) I have everything set to not delete except on my main Mac's local email client. So once I access and download email from that 'puter, it does delete items older than 24 hours from the email server.. Cheers..
