Only difference is shielding and slightly thicker wire. All same tools wll work. Its just easier to work with 6 (imho) ------Original Message------ From: Winterlight Sender: [email protected] To: [email protected] ReplyTo: [email protected] Subject: [H] Make up CAT6 cable Sent: Aug 30, 2010 2:05 AM
Up to now I have only made up CAT5 and 5e cables. I have the tools necessary to do this. I want to replace and end of a factory made CAT6 cable with a new connector because the existing one lost it's clip. After looking into this it appears that CAT 5e and CAT6 are exactly the same for the purposes of assembly. Same connectors, same wiring scheme, so the difference must be within the wires themselves... am I correct? I just make up a CAT6 just like I did CAT5e? Sent via BlackBerry
