Normally I don't give a fig whether a 'solution center' can see my
hardware. However, in this case, I can't align the print heads without
this piece of feces, on an HP hardware feces (printer) called a
Photosmart D5460.
The D5460 is a USB only printer which I have hooked up and working from
the USB port on the ASUS router. Every application can see the printer
and use it. HP Solution center cannot. Or rather, stopped seeing it.
I've been through this twice, reinstall the printer software and
Solution center is happy. The next day (computer turned on again), and
now I get the message that the printer is not attached. Nothing can
convince this poorly written software that it can still see what it saw
yesterday.
Has anyone run into this? I'm searching for ideas. HP support of any
kind is useless, they tell you the same solutions over and over again as
if, after 10 or 15 times, it will miraculously work.
The only solution I've seen that works every time is to uninstall and
reinstall the software every time you start or restart the computer.
Thanks...Steve
