thanks, instructions say buttons have to be pushed within 2 minutes, that might or might not be a problem between the house and the detached garage/shop.

hoping that the outlet in the shop is on the same side of the bus, if not easily fixed in the sub panel in the shop. Instruction say that is best. I do not know.

If you live in a multiple-family dwelling of something type, and you use an "open" network, then anyone on your power circuit can get on your internet. this prevents that...and even if a single family dwelling, someone could conceivably get on your network (I personally don't worry about that in my house), as they have to know you have a powerline network and then go buy hardware to exploit it.
