Can't offer any help here as I never thought to take mine into the
garage (attached). Mine works throughout my two-story house, though.
You can always try running a long extension cord from house to garage to
see if that helps. After all, the single runs over power connections....

I am wondering if the fact that the neutral and common are separate in
a subpanel ( even though they are on the same ground bus in the main
panel ) I am going to jumper the neutral and ground in the subpanel
and see what shakes
any ideas on that appreciated. I know that is not code in a subpanel.
