[H] HP Elitebook 8440p Black Screen of Death

My son's 8440p powers up, gets all the lights, but no video.  No video 
either on external monitor.

Tried:  Hard Reset, replaced memory, replaced HD.
The caps lock and number lock flash 3 times, which is supposed to be a 
memory problem.  Removed one stick at a time, replaced one stick then 
two.  Still same problem.

Any ideas, you kinda get tired of youtube weenies talking about draining 
all the 'static' out of your laptop....
