I have a couple of LIVIA X computers that I got a couple of years ago
that are the size of a couple of packs of cigs. I think I paid 100
bucks for one on sale newegg = 2gb model and 150 for the second = 4gb
model on Newegg sale. They hardly use any power or make any noise.
They do not require a fan and I run them with my TVs 24 7. They are
dual core Celerons with 2B or 4GB of RAM. you put a ESATA drive in
them. They have two USB2 and one USB3 port and HDMI as well as SVGA
plug in. They come with built in wifi and HD support. One of them is
currently running win7 pro with media center and the other win8 pro
with media center. My experience with them has been fantastic. They
handle all my video and recording needs. I use them for everything
but high end gaming. I wouldn't waste my time making something as
there are so many different mini computers available. Intel makes
something similar = NUC but more powerful with a I3 or even a I7 in
it . LIVA makes more expensive ones as well but my advise for mini
computers would be to buy what you need for the job at hand.

bought a small cnc mill engraver, been running it with my son's dell
alien laptop but sometimes it walks (:)(
thinking of a very small system, looking at asus ROG or vivo mini
and alien alpha, also thinking of building it but these system seem
very reasonable and could substitute main desktop in a pinch. not a
lot of room on the work bench in the shop.
have not really kept up with the tech being semi retired from
service/builds for almost 5 years. ( except for a few select friends
with their 911 calls)
any suggestions appreciated. like Asus MB's, lien-li cases but these
prebuilds are calling at me pretty loud, and being as lazy as I am these days.
