And unless you need/want the full broadband gateway (e.g., you're using it for 
wifi, or you're using cable phone service), you're better off getting a pure 
modem anyway.

If it's on your provider's acceptable device list, the Arris SB8200 is a DOCSIS 
3.1-capable modem providing some degree of future-proofing. I use one myself 
for my backup Internet connection through Cox, which is in fact running 3.1 in 
this area.

Should get a list of devices that work with their stuff and buy new from 
amazon.  It's likely any DOCSIS 3.0 device will work for you.
