I've had some issues with SATA SSDs that don't get along with Aggressive Link Power Management, notably the Crucial MX100, if ALPM is on in the machine it's in then it constantly goes into a sleep mode that the system can't wake it from and I need to do a whole sing and dance with a USB adapter to wake it up again, this was rather worse in its previous system with an Asus P8Z68-V Pro/Gen3 board that didn't have a bios option to disable ALPM, thankfully the Gigabyte Z170X-UD3 that it's hooked up to now does have a toggle for it.
