I have installed and used MSSE on 2 of my XP clients since the start of NOV.
I am favorably impressed! It seems to be light, quick, and, very
intuitive (easy) to use. I do like how very few controls MSSE has, and,
what few controls it does have are simple and direct.
I have added the large install file to my home "utility" flash-drive.
Yes, I did also allow these 2 clients to promote AutoMagic-Updates!
Mainly, because MSSE and XP grumbled tersely until I did. LOL! My
simple logic accepts why MSSE strongly suggests the use of
AutoMagic-Updates. Kill 2 birds....... :)
Very much the same logic as my closed (licensed) ESET BE system.
I will continue to monitor efficacy of both against each other.
So, now I have one odd observation:
1. When I view my system's Restore Points (via CCleaner), they appear to
me the same way my past Windows Update (monthly) postings
look...("Software Distribution Service 3.0"). These 2 XP clients no
longer show their previous daily time-stamped "System Restore Point."
I conclude that my old daily time-stamped System Restore Point is now
included inside my "new" daily "Software Distribution Service 3.0"
entry/point. This seems odd. Should I choose to roll a client back a
day or two, I certainly do not wish that MSSE also rolls its' DEF files
back also.
Yes, a bit confusing, but, I can live happy with MSSE on clients not
running ESET.
The Collective prevails yet again!
Best,
Duncan
