I accept this now. I am dense with this tool. I do not have lots of experience with extra tools since I went with ESET in 2006. This is confusing and scary. I salute those of you that use
these extra tools more frequently that I do. I get the frustration.

I will go back and follow this newer protocol.
I think I may be seeing MSSE working against my efforts.

Hmmm...it shouldn't delete the original file. It normally creates a c:\combofix folder, where it does the work, and then deletes that, leaving the original combofix.exe file you ran. You should be able to just download the latest version and run combofix /uninstall without running combofix first and it should say "combofix is uninstalled."
