I have a drobo fs and love it. It's a bit slow but works well for my needs. I highly recommend the wd green drives or the samsung ecogreens.
The new ears drives work well with the drobo fs. There's a bunch of new HD tech out there: 1) The WD drives with 4k sectors (EADS vs EARS): http://blog.fosketts.net/2009/12/23/drobo-xp-beware-4k-advanced-format-drives/ and http://www.anandtech.com/show/2888 2) 3TB drives that aren't recognized by most systems: http://blog.fosketts.net/2010/05/18/2-tb-hard-disk-drive-limit/ 3) And some drives that only have 2 platters that're supposed to be faster: http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Barracuda-ST32000641AS-Frustration-Free-Packaging/dp/B002RWJHBM (think this is one of them) etc, etc, so I was wondering what drive you guys think is the best drive for a NAS/Drobo, etc? And while we're on it, any Drobo opinions, especially now they have many more options/products, like the Drobo S, Pro, FS, Elite etc? http://www.drobo.com/products/index.php Or would you recommend some other data storage/backup device? Cheers! BINO
