Thanks Stan...

Ok, this is so weird...I had decided that the issue was that the ThinkPad SATA
HD Bay Adapter only did SATA I, and the HD was SATA II and couldn't step down
to SATA I (there are no jumper pins on these HDs btw, even though I ran out and
bought some to try and set it to SATA I)...I called both WD tech support in
EMEA-

Pro-tip 1: If American tech support is closed (like WD was) you can use Skype
and call EMEA tech support in an English speaking country-it was only .02/min
and the guy really knew his stuff too!

and they basically confirmed that if that was the issue, there was no tool or
anything I could use to step the drive down, so I was probably SOL!

So I checked Lenovo and their tech support was open, but they were useless as
they couldn't even tell me anything useful about the HD Bay Adapter since it
wasn't a "system".

Finally I posted in their user forum and this is the thread (if you want to
check it out):

So you can see what happened there...the HD magically started working! WTF?!

I'm not sure what to chalk it up to at this point; I'm copying over 100GB of
files from the USB 2.0 external to see if that works w/o issues and try and get
more confidence in it...so weird! Anyone got any ideas on why it suddenly
started working now finally?! :P
