Bingo. Right now, I know there is a virus going around which locks, hides and changes attributes on all files. Its annoying as piss, and I generally tell people: I will save your data then format/reinstall. Sorry. Yes, I could run 'unhide' tons of times and maybe get it, but waste of my time and theirs. Still, if I said that in many web forums, you'd get the response of 'don't you know xyz'
