I know how you feel. Though the power of social media is undeniable in some
ways it can be for some very narcissistic and time consuming.

I'm not on Facebook. Seemed at first more geared to the college party crowd.
Plus I never liked the way in which personal information was exposed for all
the world to see and often mishandled by Facebook itself.

I did get a Twitter account. Got tired of following Bob at work, and Aunt Betty
and Uncle Max. Useless.

Then one day I started searching for
people. Public figures. Writers, researchers etc. And you find that they all
Tweet. And I wound uo with this crazy list of PC security researchers,
Anti-Virus writers, 0-Day Exploit analysts, Web Threat analysts and more.
People out there on the frontlines. Now, you're in touch with the people they
talk to, and it is the most fascinating source of information. A global
conversation. And lo and behold I found out awhile back that Twitter had become
my primary news feed in stuff I'm interested in. And because it's realtime,
info breaks quicker and you find out all the stuff mainstream media never
reports. I never expected that.
