Yes, this is completely acceptable.
Perhaps my flash-drives and USB floppy have died. I'll factor this in.
At present, it is not being able to de-couple flash-drives and a USB floppy
that I have been using for the past 12 months w/o a glitch...........
....until recently.
I'd accept that one or two devices fail. Easy. Query raised because ALL of
my USB devices now fail.

ATM, when my USB devices get hung up and do NOT 'gracefully'
uncouple, yes,
I just de-couple them per Forc5's advice.
Sometimes a failing device will fail to disconnect as well - I've seen
that a few times on USB hard drives.
