LOL! Life is tough man, gotta hate having that problem. I'm a big fan of the UBNT products. (http://ubnt.com/) If he really needs high bandwidth, have someone wire the whole house up with gigabit to a rack in his basement with a buncha kickass switches, then supplement it with WiFI.
